Let's talk about your child's IEP - a parent and OT Perspective
As a special needs parent, sibling, and occupational therapist, I have sat on both sides of the table at IEP meetings. With my experience, I will help you to explore ideas & strategies to get the best care for your child. Here are just some of the ways that I can help you: 1.Assisting a parent in reviewing IEP objectives and their child's progress. 2. Pre-IEP meeting coaching to help parent develop questions prior to review. 3. Reviewing and suggesting updates to IEP goals and understanding what resources are needed to meet those updated goals. 4. Assisting with preparing for the Triennial IEP Review - ensuring the parent is able to advocate what is needed for the child. 5. Updating your IEP to include transition goals for their child so that they are prepared when a school is no longer an option. 6. Explain occupational therapy terms that might be confusing. I'll help you understand your IEP and we will spend time together to ensure your questions are answered. I am here to support you & to help you be the best advocate for your child.
